Greetings from the Cubmaster!

Your son is growing up fast. Just look at how quickly he outgrows his clothes! Ten years from now, he’ll be 16 or 17 years old. WOW! As he is growing, you can give him something that can help develop self-assurance as he builds respect for other people. He and you will both have fun doing it. Our scouting program is FUN WITH A PURPOSE. See some of the pictures from our recent Cub Family Weekend campout. We shot arrows from a bow, used a BB gun, played many games, and made delicious treats over the campfire. WHAT A GREAT TIME WE HAD!

This adventure with him begins with TIGER CUBS – a program of exciting indoor and outdoor activities just right for a boy who is in first grade and/or is 7 years old. You are there with him as his support and guide, but you don’t do things for him. He will learn by doing things himself. As he learns and grows, your relationship with him will grow, too.

At the end of the school year, he will graduate into a Wolf Cub Scout den. Later, he will be in a Bear den, and then he’ll become a Webelos Scout. After 12 to 18 months as a Webelos Scout, he will move onto the adventure of Boy Scouting; where he can earn the Eagle Scout rank, the highest rank in Boy Scouting.

Boy Scouts of America (BSA) Cub Scout Pack 51, chartered by the Hockessin United Methodist Church (HUMC), is growing. We are a new Pack, so you have the opportunity to get in on the ground floor of something very special. Our calendar can be viewed by link below.

We welcome you and your son to visit any of our meetings to see if it may be a fit. Thursday nights are usually Scout night at HUMC….but please contact me ahead of time so we may be prepared for your visit. From all of us here in Pack 51, we look forward to seeing you and your son as we start a new year in our scouting adventure.
